This policy explains how MW Contracting Yorkshire Ltd ("we", "us") handles personal information. We are based in Northallerton. This policy is written for UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect
Personal information usually reaches us when you choose to get in touch.
- Name, telephone number and message content if you contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email.
- Email address if you write to us.
- Vehicle, plant or job details you send so we can quote or carry out work.
- Any photos or documents you attach to a message.
- Records needed to do the work, invoice and keep accounts.
This site uses only what is needed to deliver the pages. We do not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies.
Why we use it
We use this information to:
- reply to enquiries and arrange work;
- carry out vehicle repair, welding, fabrication, car MOT welding or hydraulic hose work you have asked for;
- send quotes, invoices and payment records;
- meet legal duties such as tax and accounting;
- keep the website working.
The lawful bases we rely on are: taking steps at your request before a contract, performing a contract, legitimate interests (running a local workshop and answering people who contact us), and legal obligation where the law requires us to keep records.
How long we keep it
Enquiry messages that do not become a job are kept only as long as needed to deal with the request, then deleted. Job, invoice and accounting records are kept for as long as tax and company record rules require, typically up to six years after the end of the tax year they relate to.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We may share it with:
- IT, email, hosting or WhatsApp providers who process messages on our behalf;
- accountants or bookkeepers, where needed for our records;
- parts suppliers or specialists, only where that is needed to complete your job;
- the police, insurers, HMRC or other authorities if the law requires it.
WhatsApp is provided by Meta. If you message us there, Meta's own terms and privacy policy also apply to that channel.
International transfers
Some providers (including email and WhatsApp) may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, they are responsible for using an appropriate safeguard such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or another mechanism recognised under UK GDPR.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- erase information in certain cases;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive information you gave us in a portable format, where the right applies.

Cookies
This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies. Your browser may store normal technical data (such as a page you requested) on the server logs of the host. Those logs are used to keep the site secure and working.

Our services are for vehicle, plant and agricultural work. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
